This self-paced online course gives participants a deeper insight into the features of the VHDL language. The program comes with insightful theory lectures, lab code and lab demos. The emphasis is on using VHDL to build larger designs and testbenches.

General Instructions

Welcome to the Advanced VHDL course. This course is divided into 8 chapters:

1 – Memory Modeling and Verification
2 – Subprograms
3 – Packages and Libraries
4 – Writing a Good Testbench
5 – Advanced Techniques in VHDL
6 – File I/O and Synthesis
7 – Supporting Multiple Platforms
8 – Non Integer Numbers

Each chapter has theory and lab videos. Where applicable, lab files are made available chapter-wise.

Recommended software for this course:

  • Mentor Graphics QuestaSim or ModelSim
  • Xilinx Vivado
